The Effects of trauma on the body

Trauma can be held in the body in a variety of ways, including physical, emotional, and cognitive symptoms. Some common physical symptoms of trauma include muscle tension, headaches, fatigue, and chronic pain. Emotionally, trauma can manifest as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Cognitive symptoms may include difficulty concentrating, memory problems, and flashbacks.

The body's fight or flight response is activated during traumatic experiences. When this response is triggered, stress hormones are released, which can cause physical changes in the body such as increased heart rate, muscle tension, and changes in breathing patterns. These physical changes can be chronic if the trauma is not properly resolved.

Additionally, trauma can be stored in the body through the nervous system, especially the somatic nervous system, which controls the body's response to stress and trauma. Trauma can also be stored in the fascia, which is a connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and organs. When trauma is stored in the fascia, it can cause chronic tension and pain.

There are therapies that can help process and release trauma held in the body such as Energy Alignment Healing, inner child work, psychotherapy, trauma based healing work.
